Infant feeding

Within this information, we may use the terms "woman" and "women". However, we recognise that not only people who identify as women may want to access this content. Your care should be personalised, inclusive and sensitive to your needs, whatever your gender identity.

How you feed your baby is a very personal choice which depends on many factors. We are here to support you, whichever method you choose for your baby.

However, we're aware that sometimes women make choices without enough information. We hope the following information and links provide you with the facts you need to make an informed choice.

Please remember that you don’t need to make a feeding choice while you're pregnant; you can wait until your baby is born. See how you feel about feeding when you hold them for the first time.

Breastfeeding is not just about giving your baby milk; it’s much more than that. If you choose to breastfeed, help is available both in hospital and when you're at home.

We offer all our mothers the opportunity to offer a first breastfeed, however they choose to feed their baby. This feed starts the process of protecting your baby’s body against infections. More feeds equals more protection.
