Complaints – how do I make a complaint?
What to do if you have a complaint
Advise us of problems as they happen. Talk to the person in charge – this may be a member of staff on the ward or in the department concerned, or the doctor. They may be able to resolve your problem or give you the information you need. Each ward and department has a manager who is available to talk to you.
Alternatively, if you feel uncomfortable talking directly to the staff involved, the Trust has a Patient Advice and Liaison Service to help you resolve your concerns quickly and effectively. You can call them on (0121) 424 1212.
If you want to take your complaint further?
The Trust has a designated manager for the handling of complaints and, in general, complaints should be addressed to:
The Chief Executive
Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust

BIRMINGHAM
B9 5SS
Alternatively, you may wish to telephone our complaints team on (0121) 424 0517 or send an email to complaints@heartofengland.nhs.uk.

Do you want a clinical attachment at one of our hospitals?
I live overseas and would like to be seen at your hospital?
Unfortunately we are not a Private Hospital but a National Health Service (NHS) hospital – under the Department of Health guide lines ‘Implementing the Overseas Visitors Hospital charging Regulations’ states ‘The NHS provides healthcare for people who live in the United Kingdom. People who do not normally live in the Country are not automatically entitled to use the NHS free of charge – regardless of their nationality or whether they hold a British passport or have lived and paid National Insurance contributions and taxes in the UK in the past. Healthcare can be provided but this would have to be a private hospital.
